How to Play Quotzle
Quotzle is a free daily puzzle. Each day everyone gets the same hidden famous quote. Decode it
word by word, then guess who said it.
Play today's Quotzle
Basic rules
- Select a word in the quote (tap or click a word row).
-
Guess a word of the same length — type on the keyboard and press Enter.
-
Read the tiles:
W
O
Z
Green = correct letter, correct spot (locks in green everywhere in the quote). Amber = letter
is in the quote but wrong spot on the word you're guessing. Gray = letter is not in today's
quote. On other words, typed letters always reveal in green.
-
Wrong guesses cost strikes. You get a budget based on quote length. Run out
and the puzzle ends for the day.
-
One hint per puzzle reveals a random missing letter.
-
Guess the whole quote when you think you know it — one submission, same
strike rules.
Bonus round — guess the author
After you solve the full quote, play the author round: guess the speaker's name word-by-word
using the same tile rules. Name the author correctly for a score bonus.
Scoring
- Base score: 100 points for completing the quote.
- −10 points per strike used on the quote.
- +25 bonus if you name the author correctly.
Archive puzzles do not change your daily stats or streak.

Tips
- Start with short words to learn which letters appear.
- Green letters propagate — typed letters reveal in green on every word they appear in.
- Tab cycles between unsolved words.
- Enable colorblind mode in the help menu if amber/green are hard to distinguish.
